Ways Not to Fear...
Deuteronomy 31:6, "Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you."
It's easy for FEAR to get the best of us; when we are continually being bombarded with information by the media on what is going on globally. The Coronavirus has had us on an emotional roller coaster for the last nine months. With news of people dying, racism on the rise, police brutality, unemployment rates on the rise, and implemented quarantines throughout the nation, it's undoubtedly been a year like no other.
However, even in these precedented times, the GOD of all creation is still in control. He tells us in Deuteronomy 31:6, "Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you." People may leave, job loss may happen, and you may even lose hope. However, let me encourage you to place your FAITH in GOD. He's still there and is ordering your every step. We also must learn to level up our Faith.
"LEVEL UP YOUR FAITH"
Amid our troubles, we can all see increasing our faith as a struggle—a lot of times, God wants to see where our Faith is before He makes a move. So we must level up our Faith. In II Timothy 4:7, the word says, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the Faith. I have been in so many circumstances that I have tested this Faith. I am sure you have, or you may be in one now.
I remember working for an organization that I had placed my everything into. In my mind, at the time, I felt this would be an opportunity to establish my career. I had aspirations of being in management, so I did whatever was necessary to try to get to that point. Well, eventually, it happened; I was now in a position I had always desired.
However, once I got there, the enemy brought all kinds of tricks and attacks. He definitely comes to kill, steal, and destroy. I then realized that this position was not for me; it was something that I tried to control, that was not GOD. I was demoted from this position.
God then moved me into a higher agency, and I am now working in a management role. Psalm 75:6 mentions, "For promotion comes neither from the east nor from the west nor from the south. It is God who judges: He brings one down, He exalts another." We must keep the faith and know that God has already predestined our lives before Earth's formation. He has all power in His hands and will get the glory. We must continue to stand, fight, and Faith up.
"PRAY WITHOUT CEASING"
I cannot express to you how vital your prayer life is. I remember when I didn't have a prayer life, and the enemy certainly had a field day with my life. I didn't consult God for anything, not my jobs, relationships, or even my purpose. I did as I pleased, and I can definitely see the devil's handprints on my life because of that choice.
However, in 2012 I began to seek the Lord like never before. I began cultivating a relationship with him, though I have been saved all my life; this is where I can say I actually came to Christ. Even though I had a relationship with Him and tried to build a prayer life. I never consulted God. Honestly, I am still learning, even though I've been in church since being in my mother's womb...lol. I now know how important prayer is.
What is prayer? Prayer is basically communicating with God. A lot of people believe you have to pray a specific prayer with certain words, etc. Whereas, I also believe you can talk to him like a friend. There are days when I cry out, ask Him how His day is, and even express why I feel a certain way. Whether is extreme anger or joy. Prayer is simply an opportunity to tell your heart's desires, wants, and needs.
Matthew 21:22, "And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive." There are several ways that I have implemented to help me with being consistent in prayer:
1. Making a list that includes people God has lays on my heart to pray for.
This is actually an outstanding way to demonstrate Mark 12:31, "and the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandments greater than these." One way you can show you love your neighbor as yourself would definitely be saying a prayer on their behalf.
2. Setting my timer to help me to say a quick prayer throughout the day. This definitely helps with having a centered prayer life. Often times the busyness of life can leave us so consumed with our jobs, families, and community involvement. It leaves us from having a strong prayer life.
3. Even putting some time to pray with my family at night. We've all heard the saying, "The family that stays together prays together." Setting a foundation for your family will be handed down from generation to generation. We know that training up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
